Iran: Day 7

Today was a relaxing day.  In the morning one of our sweet sweet Ammi's brought over fresh, handmade piroshki and cake Yazdi!  So yummy!  I stayed home during the day, and in the evening Baba-jan took me to see the house Mohammad grew up in, then we went to Ammi's house for sweets, and then to another Ammi's house for dinner.  One of my dear cousins also took me to get my hair cut.  Getting a hair cut in Iran is a very different experience than going to the salon in the U.S.  In Iran (at least at the salon I went to) once your hair is washed (it is not common to use conditioner) you are expected to comb through it on your own.  When your hair is begin cut, the stylist does not worry about where the hair is falling (on your face, feet, purse, etc).  The little girls in the shop were playing with my cut hair saying they wished they had hair like mine and that my hair looked like princess' hair! Before we left the salon, the salon owner's young daughter did a private dance for me.  It was a lot of fun!

There is  never a dull moment in Iran... before going to bed I took a shower.  Baba & Madar-joon didn't want me to get a cold, so they moved a space heater into the hamam (hamam's are not like typical American showers... they are basically separate rooms with one large tiled room with a shower sprayer for the shower and a smaller sectioned off room for dressing and drying).  When I exited the shower area and entered the drying area I brushed up against the space heater cord and received a very small electric shock!   Thank God the heater was turned off!  I immediately told Baba and Vahid, "elektrisitee va ab khoob nist!  Kheili kheli bad!"(electricity and water not good.  Very very bad) and they both ran to the hamam to see what happened... the space heater quickly disappeared from the hamam and it was once again safe to shower!  Also... I noticed the heater in my room was turned from low to high!  LOL.
